I just read your comments on the Angling Trust and I joined today. I understand your frustration at people's apparent apathy. What more can be done to encourage them to spend a couple of minutes on line or on the phone to part with a mere £20 for a sport that so many of them are so passionate about? Beats me.

Concerng this remark:
"This is because bird watchers are not afraid to put their hands in their pockets every now and then to support their hobby and this gives the RSPB power to protect their interests."
As I understand it only some 5-10% of their money comes from the members' pockets. The rest, more than 90%, comes from funding. This is another good reason to support the Angling Trust, as you need an organisation able to get to the funding, which often can be a lot of paper work for nothing.
